I love live music. I am always aching for a gig. There is nothing closer to
enlightenment than watching an artist or group of artists do what they love and are
passionate about on a teeny little stage, with sticky floors and smoke
machines, getting a little bit too loud on a rum and coke.

In the age of generative AI and the many law changes that are affecting artists at the moment (see ‘Is This What We Want’ initiativeand album), alongside cost of living and general feelings of collective despair – live music is that one constant that I am never really disappointed by.

I am always on the hunt for artists that push for a magnetic energy between each other and the audience. Enter: Frankie and The Studs, and their debut album ‘LIFE’S A GLITCH’.

Hollywood’s Frankie and The Studs singer/guitarist Frankie Clark revealed, “My process with this album was to approach everything with the live show in mind. Since we always consider ourselves a live band and we love to perform…”.

This album is a welcomed go-go boot to the face. A quartet that seems to truly embody that 70’s rock ‘n’ roll sound, bringing it into the 21st century.

Frankie’s vocals take us through their entrancing setlist-esque LP, kicking us into gear with the first couple tracks ‘Hole in My Head‘ and ‘Bimini’, which are reminiscent of the likes of Joan Jett and Blondie.

Track 5, ‘Here I Lie’ brings in those gothic, yearning melodies that send you into a neon-saturated trance; sweeping into ‘Monster’ to pick up the pace again.

Their particularly ‘chuggy’ guitar riffs, leading bass line and beast-like drums – provided by members Frank Salazar, Lizi Gionangeliand and Nick Rossi, leaves the listener with a
perpetual stank face.

We are even blessed with a cover of Bananarama’sVenus‘ – staying close to the original sound and bringing rock ‘n’ roll to a new generation.

Frankie and The Studs have been gigging together for 8 years, with single releases throughout that time. ‘LIFE’S A GLITCH‘ is their first album. This is a band who truly connects with each other musically as well as the scene they pour so much love into.

Frankie and The Studs concluded their UK/EU shows in December 2024, playing Edinburgh’s Bannermans and 2 shows across Italy; and I sincerely hope a new tour will be announced in the coming months.

LIFE’S A GLITCH‘ is set to be released on March 27th, with ‘Monster’ music video releasing on the same date.
