A new weekly “battle of the bands” style competition is being launched tonight by Slouch Bar on Bath Street, Glasgow.

The competition which is called ‘The Clash’ will take place between 9pm and 1am every Thursday, and is open to all bands irrespective of their musical genre.

Votes from the crowd will determine the winner of each round. Winners will receive a cash prize alongside some mystery prizes provided by brands who are sponsoring the event.

This includes Red Bank Whiskey, Bounty Rum, and East London Liquor Company.

Those who want to enter the competition do not need to bring any equipment because Slouch Bar will provide it.

The evening will also feature a bespoke cocktail menu from the event sponsors.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the event, Kenzie, a member of the Slouch team, said, “My main inspiration for this comes from things like the Blues Jam at The Howlin’ Wolf, our sister bar, as well as events like The Jams at Box and Boteco.

“However, I wanted to provide an incentive for bands to perform with the idea of a cash prize. Something for them to compete for and give their all in the hopes of winning”

Kenzie says that the competition aims “to provide a space for bands, both new and old, to get on stage in front of a crowd and get themselves out there for people to hear.”

Those who are interested in finding out more about the event or wish to participate with their band can contact Slouch via email at: info@slouch-bar.co.uk or by telephone by calling 0141 221 5518.
