From the glorious sights of Athens, Greece are Black Soul Horde, a traditional heavy metal outfit with fast action riffs, continuously pummeling drums and a soaring vocal tone that screams for your attention.

It’s been four years since their last opus ‘Horrors From the Void’, and the band’s return with ‘Symphony of Chaos’ is glorious. The album “re-imagines modern horror tales while weaving original stories of myth and legend, a thrilling mix of fantasy, terror, and pure heavy metal might.”

Listening to each track, I feel like I need to be watching some sort of 1980s martial arts action scene. The melodies are super catchy and when the solos kick in, building towards their crescendos, you get this epic feeling of positivity inside.

You have to love music that can make you feel that way.

Black Soul Horde carry that New Wave of British Heavy Metal and European style of metal on their banners. Throw in heavy doses of power metal and we’ve got an epic journey.

Within their musical style, you’ll hear influences from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Powerwolf, to name just a few big hitters.

In their own words, “it is a work that combines experience, imagination, and flawless musicianship, a definitive meeting point of classic heavy metal power and contemporary horror aesthetics.”

This album succeeds on all these levels, and the band should be bloody proud of themselves.

‘Symphony of Chaos’ is out now.
