Scottish metalcore mob, North of Ruins, are here to make a statement.

Straight out the gate, we’re hit with a vicious concoction of double bass drumming, classic metalcore riffage and vocals that are as pissed off as your Nan is with a neighbour’s cat.

What follows are breakdowns, catchy melodies and all the rage you can capture in a Molotov cocktail bottle. When the chorus kicks in, the pace slows. Full focus is on the vocals, with impactful lyrics that will no doubt have live crowds screaming the words back at the band one day.

North of Ruins take things back to the metalcore boom of the 2000s, mixing an old-school blend with a modern influence.

Their aggression is reminiscent of the earlier work by fellow metalcore Scots, Bleed From Within, with a heavy bite of Unearth in some of their heavier moments and a hot lava sprinkle of Killswitch Engage.

This is just the start for the band, and it is one hell of a way to make an impact.

The single ‘Billionaire Problem‘ is out now. Their 5-track EP ‘State of Decay‘ is due to be released this Spring, so keep your eyes peeled.
